Five Days Tour
Day1-Rolous Group + Countryside
After breakfast at the hotel,I will take you to local villages and go see their market Phsa Rolous, the only real local market in Siem Reap! Not a touristy but not for souvenir, just looking their local people daily life.
Kompoung Pluk, one of the 4 fishing villages by the lake Tonle sap in Siem Reap. You will see tall houses build on stilts about 6-10m high to avoid flooding, the local fishermen daily life and Beautiful flooded forest.
The Rolous group: Bakong, Preah Ko and Lolei. Those temples are the early start of Angkor history. I think it’s good idea to start temple tour with those temples.
Ok i think you may like these temples Beng Mealea and Koh Ker temples but it is faraway and a bit adventure tour.
Day 2-Tour to remote temples in deep forest -7.30am
After breakfast at your hotel, i will bring you out to some of temples in the deep forest with a few tourists, Koh Ker temples group and Beng Mealea temple, it is suitable for the tourist who wish to avoid the crowds temples at Angkor.
Day 3- Banteay Srei+ the river of 1000 Lingas + Big Buddha statue and Phnom Kulen waterfall
I will take you to Banteay Srei, small temple built on low base platform which very easy to walk around for old people. Banteay Srei is one of the most beautiful temple in Angkor.
Phnom Kulen, the holy mountain of Cambodia and it is birth place of the great Angkor empire. You will see 1000 Lingas carved on river bed about thousand years ago, Angkor king made it to convert fresh water to sacred water by Hinduism believe.
Big reclining Buddha carved in from big rock in 16 century.
And finally, the great waterfall to swim for good luck and refreshing.
On the way back you will see two more beautiful temples East Mebon and Pre Rup.
Day 4- Angkor Wat+Ta Prohm+ Bantean Kdei+ Ta Nei and Preah Khan+ Bayon
Pre-dawn at 5.00am to sunrise at Angkor Wat. In the early morning after sunrise most people leave Angkor Wat then it is the best time to explore temple with less crowded.
After Angkor wat tour, It time to explore the jungle temple! To Ta Prohm, Ta Nei and Preah Khan. These late 12 century Mahayana Buddhist temple are not much conservation and restoration so the temples are ruin and overgrown with big tall trees and vine. It look like great nature claim human building after people had abandoned it! They are low base temples not much steep step.
Bayon, the main temple of Great Angkor King Jayavarman VII, he designed and built this temple differently from previous kings, not Hindu temple anymore but the first Mahayana Buddhist state temple. Most of the 49 towers carved as Big smiling faces of Buddha or of himself, the smiling of compassion or Mona Lisa of the east!
Day 5- City tour Wat thmey or the killing field+ silk farm+ Artisan Angkor
First I will take you to Wat Thmey, one of modern Buddhist temple were used as prison and killing field in Siem Reap city during communist Khmer Rouge ruled Cambodia in 1975-1979. After the killing regime gone, kick out by Vietnamese army, the local found a lot of dead body then they make a great stupa to keep the victim’s bonds.
I like to take you to Silk farm and artisan Angkor for experience the best Siem reap silk and the other productions that make by local people. Most of thing to sell in tourist market like old market are imported, about 70% imported!
Lunch break at pubstreet, the old French squatter area.
Afternoon motorbike tour to local villages and to Peareang bird sanctuary for bird watching.
